Organizing for Connecticut

Dear Friends:

As some of you may know, and many may not, I have been working for
the past month at the Christian Community Action Center in Norwalk.
The CCA is a wonderful non-profit organization that is primarily a
food pantry and additionally gives furniture, mattresses and
children's books to needy families.

As I'm sure most of you will surmise, the economic crisis has hit
the lower middle class and poor of Fairfield County extremely hard
and at the same time paradoxically private donors and corporate
sponsors are drying up. The center used to feed approximately 20
families a day and that number is now nearing 40 and growing every
week.

My work at the CCA is in helping re-brand and get more attention and
publicity, but I also work in the food pantry three mornings a week.
The work is extremely rewarding but also very depressing at times
when there is just not enough food to give to needy families --
especially those with young children, infants and seniors.
I know that we are all feeling the effects of this economic downturn
and are making sarifices and changes in our personal lives, however,
I am hoping that some of you might still be able to dig deep and
help out this worthy cause.

There are several ways you can help. You can do a grocery shop and
just deliver the food directly to the food pantry, or even easier
you can just write a check. Any amount is highly appreciated. I have
included the details for the Center below, in case you feel you
would like to chip in at this critical moment.

With lots of love and thanks in advance,
