Ted Kennedy's Other Cause

Since Senator Kennedy’s death, many are suggesting any health care reform bill that passes be named for him. I agree that health care was “the cause of his life”. Another cause he fought hard for was gun control. Guns were a big part of the Senator’s life, taking 2 of his brothers in assassinations. During the Senator’s life we witnessed tragedy upon tragedy being wrought by guns on private citizens. In the last 30 years over 1 million Americans have died from guns versus 655,000 killed in all f… Continue

Who are the Impalers?

With Obama’s healthcare plan coming, a local newspaper fired an opening salvo with its caption contest. I’m referring to a contest where the newspaper provides the cartoon and you supply the caption. This cartoon depicted a man impaled with an oversized screw, standing in front of President Obama, who is dressed as a doctor sitting at a desk in front of an Obamacare sign.

That was the first part of the two pronged approach to project a negative image of Obama’s attempt at health care reform. Th… Continue

This week's Courant Caption Contest offers an opportunity!

For those who are supportive of Obama’s health care plan this week’s Hartford Courant offers an opportunity. Visit the site and enter your caption in support of Obama’s plan. There are a lot of opponents against a public plan, as you will see from the entries. Let’s turn the tide!

Sustinet and the pooling bill pass the CT house

Recently the House passed two bills slated to reform health care in Connecticut, the pooling bill and Sustinet. House Republicans voted unanimously against the pooling bill. So here’s my question, why do Republicans hate health care reform?

The pooling bill will allow nonprofit agencies and small businesses to enter the state’s health care pool. Some Republicans call the state’s health care plan “the Cadillac of health care bills”. So that’s why they want to deny it to others, because it’s such… Continue

Guns are for Kids!

The Connecticut State legislature recently voted in the Uzi bill that deprives kids of fun, according to some. I can relate. Has an eight year old in the early 60’s I fired many automatic weapons and even some artillery. My friends and I also fired rifles, six-guns, and cross bows. We had the opportunity to handle swords and spears.

Growing up and watching movies like the Magnificent Seven and the Great Escape inspired me to waste many Nazis and banditos. I was also killed many times and was ve… Continue

Dan,
I have posted some new bills on the Leg Watch Group page
some of them are Labor Bills that you and Lori P recommended. Would like your feedback. I would love you
to be part of the group and join in when you can. We are trying to set up a meet-up to discuss what we want and need to do as a group. It will likely be on Sat April 25 in the
am but I need to get a consensus from the group. Some
of us (me and one or two others) would like to put some
pressure on some Dem over the CT Budget.
The Legislatiave Watch Group had a teleconference on Sunday April 5th. We had a good discussion and no glitches with access code. I have set up another for Sunday April 19th at 6:00 pm. The teleconference number is 1-219-509-8020 and the access code is 52652.
