One of the most powerful tools to self-empowerment is training. This group is committed to providing community organizing and leadership training to as many people in our state as possible. Each one bring one, each one teach one.

Welcome to Organizing for Connecticut, Ernest, where we turn passion into action. Thank you for joining. Please check us out on Face book and twitter.
there are a lot of activities going on. We are a grassroots, volunteer movement and whatever time you spend, no matter how great or small, is sincerely appreciated.
Here are some groups that match your volunteer interests.
Community Service: So far, this group's activities center around feeding the hungry and replenishing food banks around the state, as well as volunteering at various soup kitchens; seasonal clothing drives; book drives for children by children; and ending homelessness.
CT FieldHands (Get Out The Vote and other similar activities): The gubernatorial race will be coming up, as well as other political campaigns and this group will definitely take part.
Education: The Education group is planning Community Conversations on Education (and health care) 0-12 to address the needs of our youth starting with those at the greatest risk. Organizing activities are underway to host these events in Bridgeport, Hartford, Middletown, New Haven, New London and Stamford.
Event Planners: This group will assist with planning for the community conversations, as well as other similar events, including the Congressional Health Care forums coming up in a couple of weeks -- we really need volunteers to come out and help with sign up and tell you story.
Political Watch: Starting in May, this group will launch a series of "Community Conversations" that will focus on meeting potential gubernatorial candidates (none have formally filed so we are still calling them "potential" candidates.
Training: We offer a three session, intense community organizing leadership training course directly modeled after Camp Obama 2007. The first one was held in March at Yale. The next one will be held in Hartford at the end of April at the public Library.
Voter Registration: As various political campaigns come up (municipal and statewide) this group participates by helping to register voters.
Students: We do not have a group specifically designed just for students. However, this being a grassroots effort, if that is your passion, please go ahead and create a student group and I will assist you with inviting all of our students. We have a large high school student base, as well as college/university with the largest groups for Yale, UCONN, Wesleyan, Connecticut College, SCSU, Trinity, Quinnipiac, Tunxis, WCSU and CCSU.
Again, thank you for joining. Let's win together.
